apt-get update and upgrade problem

Since you're seeing that "status field" error all the way into "apt-get -f 
install" then it seems you're going to have to clear that up before anything 
else will work.

One or more of your sources is probably busted somehow, or it could be 
something even uglier.  I don't have time to lay out how I would go about 
trying to solve this one.  Maybe later, if nobody else steps up to offer you 
suggestions.
