Edgy and mysql 5.0 -- server won't run

Sounds like a bug would need to be filed about that then?

  Answering my own question here, but I found that the statically linked MySQL binaries from mysql.com work fine with 64-bit Edgy.  The dynamicaly linked ones fail because they want libstc++ 5, and Edgy uses 6, which is sufficiently different to break MySQL.

  I'm still not sure why the MySQL 5.0 in the distribution crashes.
