Kaffeine -Jerky Picture and Sound

I used to have this tv card running reliably!  Now ... the audio is chopped-up 
and the video is 'jumpy'.  I can't seem to rectify this ... and I did update 
my software with easyubuntu.  I still think my version of kaffeine 
is 'old' ... but it used to work...

Anyone got any clues as to what I should be looking at??

Machine is a 1000 MHz Athlon ... with 512 Meg of ram ... running 6.10.  TV 
card is a WinFast DTV1000T.
