Font problem?

I recently installed Kubuntu on my new computer. I used to use Debian
Sarge on my previous computer. I like fonts... lots of them. Even if
I can't read the languages, I like to see proper glyphs and not those
pesky squares with numbers in them or other "can't find the glyph" markers.

I've been installing fonts and get the following errors on certain fonts.

Use of uninitialized value in print at /var/lib/defoma/scripts/gs.defoma
line 108. [repeated a number of time per font]
opendir: No such file or directory

I looked in the file gs.defoma and the line is part of a loop (I think)
for ttf-cjk fonts. I don't do bash scripting, which I assume is what
that file is, so I have no idea how to fix it.

I found this [0] which says it's a bug in gs.common... which is now over
a year old (if it hasn't been fixed).

Can anyone help?
