Subject: [Bug 69879] Re: LD_ASSUME_KERNEL broken in edgy
Date: Thursday 02 November 2006 15:16
From: Jeff Bailey <jbailey at ubuntu.com>
To: buti at bux.at

Hi! This was intentionally done in edgy's glibc. Dapper's glibc still
supported LinuxThreads, which was a backport that we had to do. We've
drop LT support as of edgy. Newer versions of sapdb should work
correctly, but for older software that needs LinuxThreads, dapper is
supported for 5 years.

Marking this bug as 'rejected'

** Changed in: glibc (Ubuntu)
       Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected

LD_ASSUME_KERNEL broken in edgy
https://launchpad.net/bugs/69879

-------------------------------------------------------

Public bug reported:

setting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 results in problems with all binaries on
edgy.

to reproduce:

till at hapi:~$ export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
till at hapi:~$ ps
ps: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared
object
file: No such file or directory

this worked fine on ubuntu dapper. we need this feature for an old
version of sapdb which we rely on in our production environments.

possibly this is a bug in ld-linux ?

** Affects: glibc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
