My wlan card is not working with the current kubuntu 2.6.22-14 kernel!
Kernel Panic when using a WEP key.
This problem is a well known bug in the 2.6.22 releases regarding to all
Realtek WLAN cards and have been fixed in a 2.6.23 version.
A major kernel update is not available in the current Kubuntu Gusty release
and kubuntu hardy which is using a 2.6.24-2 kernel has been released
as alpha 2. Well, for the moment kubuntu gusty is not usable for me
and hardy is not recommended for daily use.
So I have downloaded, compiled and installed the current stable
vanilla kernel 2.6.23.12 where the problem has been solved.
The kernel itself is working well and the wlan is up and running,
but the X-server crashs because the NVidia module can't be load.
For installing the nvidia module, I have used the official nvidia installed
from nvidia.com related to my nvidia card.
(GeFroce 7600 GT -> NVIDIA-Linux-x86-169.07-pkg1.run)
Can somebody help me how I can install my custom kernel with nvidia support?
Thanks.
