SMB problem: mounting a share on gutsy

I have tried every single combination of things I can think of -- including
things that work fine on current RH and Mandriva distros -- and I can get
nothing to work properly on gutsy. (And I have read all the documentation I
can find.)

Can someone please post an example /etc/fstab line for either an smbfs or a
cifs mount that works on gutsy?
