OT it may be, but it does concern Kubuntu as the desktop is KDE and
from (I think) version 6, SimplyMEPIS has used the Ubuntu/Kubuntu
repositories. However.....
With SimplyMEPIS 7 shortly to arrive, it is reverting to standard
Debian repositories. The current beta (SimplyMEPIS 6.9.7beta 2) is
reported to support laptop wireles cards less well, but it is only a
beta (time for improvement).
So, if you are going to use another distro that is set up to use the
Ubuntu/Kubuntu repositories, SimplyMEPIS is a good alternative choice,
BUT you should use the current version not the beta. And SimplyMEPIS 7
when it arrives, will no longer be using the Ubuntu/Kubuntu
repositories.
