opening .wmv (Windows Media Video) files

Go find mplayer and the restricted codecs -- get it all from the mplayer 
website. Install it (compile your own, or get a binary; I compiled it 
but that was ages ago) and then you can play just about *anything*!

Once that's done, associate wmv files with mplayer (in the KDE control 
panel) and then you should be good to go.
