color problems in window decorations

I have similar artefacts in the taskbar when I slide a video-playback
window around. I blame this on either my graphics hardware (Thinkpad
t23, savage driver) or the X graphics driver.
I haven't really investigated this. I think it only appears with a
moving video window on my system.
