Half the price? I'd be really surprised if they could manage that. I'm
using a 3 year old Dell laptop and a comparable new one is close to a
quarter of what I paid for mine (ie, I paid almost CDN$2000 - with taxes -
for an Inspiron 6000, and I can get a 15xx with almost exactly the same
configuration, but larger disk & RAM, for ~$550)

Given that I've been running the latest & greatest Ubuntus on a lesser
machine for 3 years, I guess not :-)
