ATI Driver and dual displays

This may require you to use the non-free ATI drivers.  I found that my laptop 
with an ATI Radeon xpress200m wouldn't work with its external port either.  
This is a very annoying problem, but I can't think of very many things about 
this ATI card--I don't know about yours--that aren't annoying.
