The algorithm is part of OpenOffice. It generates the encrypted output 
from the unencrypted input and the password.

I have no idea as I don't know the details about the encryption of 
OpenOffice -- and I am no cryptography expert. Maybe you should try for 
yourself using the program Matt mentioned.
