Update help Kubuntu 7.04 Fiesty Fawn

Restartes X Server from the boot screen option, still no change. Also
firefox has stopped loading.
Will I have to format or is there a way by which the system can be
restored like in Windows XP ?
Please help. I am becoming desperate because this has all the updates
and programmes loaded.
