Where is the text gone when removing 'quiet splash' while booting Gutsy LiveCD?

You're having problems with your screen resolution.......

Try adding  vga=normal   to your kernel line.

Or research other settings for vga=

something that might help is running hwinfo

hwinfo --framebuffer

It will give you valid settings for vga=

such as  vga=0x0307    =  1280x1024
