OK, first, where did all these come from? You don't have vsyncs of 72 & 75
on an LCD monitor. You only need the 60Hz values.

Do you have a widescreen model? Dell widescreens are 16:10 ratio, normal
screens are 4:3. 1280x960 isn't either, so again probably not necessary.

These can't both be right - but I'm not sure which takes precedence. I'd be
prepared to bet that it's the "16" value, because then you don't have any
modes specified!

Do you know what that does? If not, you'll probably want to get rid of it.

It's much simpler to get rid of most of that. My xorg.conf, which _does_
support widescreen, simply has:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Laptop Monitor"
Option "DPMS"
# 1280x800 @ 60.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 49.68 kHz; pclk: 83.46 MHz
Modeline "1280x800_60" 83.46 1280 1344 1480 1680 800 801 804
828 -HSync +Vsync
HorizSync 45.0 - 51.0
ModelName "LCD Panel 1280x800"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Device "Intel Video Card"
Monitor "Laptop Monitor"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1280x800_60" "1024x768"
EndSubSection
EndSection
You shouldn't need any modelines for standard resolutions - pretty well
anything at 4:3 ratio - I doubt you even need a Modeline in the screen
section for 1280x1024. The default resolutions are simply specified
as "1280x1024" instead of "1280x1024 at 60" or "1280x1024_60".

Things _would_ go easier if you just answer the questions we ask...
