AcrobatReader not available via Adept? (solved)

Thank you all, Samps, Henri Girard, Gene Heskett, D. R. Evans and
Nicolas Miyasato, for your suggestions.
For some reason, neither searching in Adept after expanding repositories
to include 'multiverse', nor launching a terminal search as root (~#:
apt-cache search acroread) yielded a positive result, so eventually I
simply downloaded the Acro Reader tarball from the Adobe web site and
installed from that.
Meanwhile I've already put it to good use: it works very nicely indeed.
