PCTEL modem drivers

Friends,
I am installing a Dell Inspiron 500m with Kubuntu. I briefly ran it on
SimplyMepis which installed the winmodem nicely as a PCTEL modem, something
Kubuntu does not. Where can I find a debian package or something for said
drivers? SimplyMepis was quite good but had some quirks that drove me round
the bend so now back to Kubuntu...
