Try uninstalling and reinstalling xine (its the underlying part that's having 
the problem.)

You may be missing libarts1-xine, or something like that.  Just open up 
synaptic and search for "xine" you'll see all kinds of libraries, and things.  
There is also the extracodecs which may help you.
