FWIW, here's the fstab line from my ancient Mandrake 8.1 fstab:
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto
user,iocharset=iso8859-1,umask=0,sync,exec,codepage=850,noauto 0 0
That was the last distro on which I used a floppy for anything, and it worked.
