Kubuntu 6.10 and performance (speed).

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the X 'eye-candy' was turned on in Edgy.

You can turn configure the eye-candy to your taste and tolerance level.

In general, I like Edgy.  I have it on my AMD64 desktop and my Celeron 
laptop.  No problems at all, really.
