Konqueror slow after router change

My old setup:
ADSL Internet/PPPoE -> Kubuntu PC running rp-pppoe in IP-masquerade mode ->
Samba network pointing to LAN IP address of Kubuntu PC as the "default
gateway". Kubuntu PC has two NIC cards, eth0 for LAN and eth1 for Internet.
Other PCs only had LAN and received Internet over the LAN.
My current setup:
ADSL Internet -> Actiontec Gateway GT704 (combo DSL modem and router) -> each
PC on LAN connected directly to gateway with default gateway set to the
Actiontec's IP. Additional NIC installed on other PCs, one to handle
connection to gateway, other to handle LAN traffic.
Seems to work, except...
Konqueror is really, really slow. Not in actually downloading data, but a lot
of time waiting to start downloading data. Kmail seems OK (but who knows
because most of the time kmail is filtering through spamassassin instead of
downloading).
I reconfigured rp-pppoe to do a straight firewall instead of IP-masq, but
don't run it because the pppoe is handled by the gateway now.
Here is the output of route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface

0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1
Any efficiency suggestions?
