K3b... again!

Just burned a DVD full of pictures. Had Rockridge extensions enabled but
without permissions backup. This meant that when I mounted the DVD the owner
and group were both set to root meaning I couldn't read my own files off the
DVD. I just want the DVD to be readable by anyone who puts it in the drive.
This behaved correctly according to what K3b said.... but what is the point in
setting all permissions to root??? If I backup the permissions then only my
user will be able to read it, which is almost equally useless.
I burned the DVD again without Rockridge and needless to say its fine. But
K3b warned me that Rockridge is great and I shouldn't disable it...
Suggestions welcome please.... I'm not sure of the best way to backup my
data.
