KDE cannot display all characters correctly...?

I have a problem that very often I will browse Chinese websites, this works 
fine under Firefox for example but when viewed with konqueror maybe 1 in 10 
of the characters are replaced with a dot. I use EvaQ which is a messenger 
using the QQ (chinese) network and messages in this also suffer from the same 
affliction. I have pasted below a sample text, I'm not sure if it's viewable 
to all of you but if you can see it, you can see that characters are 
missing....

I have done no additional tweaking with languages BUT I have tried other linux 
flavours using KDE and they work OK with my language settings staying the 
same. I am running Breezy with KDE 3.5.2 (same prob with 3.4.3) and what 
really gets me is that the Dapper Live Kubuntu have the same problem (whereas 
something like Knoppix is perfect).
