booting issues

recently i submitted a problem to this list and quickly retracted the
question because i seemingly solved it. it's back. the gist is this:

when my wireless is down (i'm with insightbb) my kubuntu ibook g3 won't
boot. is there a way to boot with the wireless disabled so i can go in
and make some changes to the network configuration?
