Using Kubuntu for the first time

Hello,
  
  I am completely new ti Linux and decided to download the Live CD of Kubuntu Breezy. I burnt the file onto a CD.
  
  I then  changed the boot up sequence on my work PC, a Dell  Optiplex GX620, so that the CD dive would be searched first and put the  CD into the CD drive. However, the black screen was bypassed after a  couple of seconds, without any displayed message or prompt. 
  
  Can anyone tell me what I did wrong and what need to do to get up and running with Kubuntu?
