Konqueror Asplode

I usually use Firefox for my web browser, but yesterday I decided to give 
Konqueror a try for awhile.  In "File Associations" I set Text/HTML to launch 
Konqueror as my primary web browser, and Firefox as my second.

This morning, I clicked on a link in KMail, and the system started to launch 
Konqueror.  However, it never actually did; it kept trying, but seems to have 
gotten into some kind of strange loop; eventually, X crashed.

I've got Firefox back as my main browser now, but I'm still interested in 
trying Konqueror.  Does anyone have any idea why this might have happened?

Oh, using KDE 3.5.1 on Dapper.
