flash and trash bin

I have observed a strange behaviour when deleting files from removable
media (flash). When I "move something to trash", the files go to a
folder .Trash-501 in the flash disk itself. OK, that would be fine, if I
had a convenient way to empty that trash bin. But I cannot figure out
how. Alternatively, it would be ok if the "move to trash" option would
not be available for removable media.

Any ideas? I am running Kubuntu 5.10 with KDE 3.5.1. I can open the
hidden trash folder and Shift+Del the files, but that is not a user
friendly way...
