If you enable the "multiverse" repository, you will be able to able to 
install the msttcorefonts package, which will download and setup a 
series of familiar fonts (iirc Arial, Andale Mono, Comic Sans, Georgia, 
Impact, Trebuchet and Verdana), using "sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts"
