x freezes after last dapper kernel upgrade

This is what I am trying now, but the crashes happened after hours of
uptime and running on the net.  So, I haven't had enough time to draw
any conclusions, yet, but so far, no crash on the i386, just the i686.

BTW, I have a pentium III and I notice the i686 config file shows
CONFIG_X86_PC=y and CONFIG_M686=y.  Anyone know if X86 and M686 cover
pentium III's?

I also opened a bug on lauchpad.
