Screensaver not working automatically - Solved!

Solved it by going into System Settings > Display > Power Control tab 
and enabled Power Saving.
This is specifically for enabling the monitor to switch off after x 
minutes, so I don't see the connection between that and the screensaver 
- perhaps it is a bug??
Anyway the screensaver now works as it should :-) It never was a problem 
on the other computers as they were all 'upgraded' and therefore kept 
their settings (which included power saving enabled) whilst the 
'problem' box was a fresh install.
