Screen scrambling

Dear all,

I have been running Kubuntu Breezy and Dapper and  the problem I get is:

- walk away from the computer for say 30 minutes and the screen is black 
as if the screen saver has ended, wiggle the mouse or such like to bring 
it back and the screen has scrambled completely.

The mouse is still available and you still select items in the scramble, 
it happens one after another.

I go to the Man-lug meetings and I took it there because of this, a very 
kind person thought perhaps my profile has corrupted and copied it to a 
new user, it did not happen for about 3 weeks but then it came back and 
now happens all the time.

It started with Breezy intermitently but has got worse.

I desperately need to get this sorted out as is making my computer unusable.

I have used Mandrake 10 and 10.1 and I never had this problem or with Hoary.

Any ideas appreciated.
