Compiling exiv2 from source

Thanks, Tez, I'm going to go try what you ahd suggested, and I will
also download the latest exiv2.

KPhotoAlbum is the new name for KimDaBa. I do have KimDaBa installed,
but it is version 2.1 and KPhotoAlbum is 2.2. In 2.1 there was a bug
in importing index.xml files, and I must import an index.xml file. As
the problem is fixed in 2.2, I need to install that. Also, the
maintainer of KimDaBa / KPhotoAlbum for Debian had a hard time with
the current version, and I could only suppose that he has given up.
I've bugged him too much via email to ask him how he is progressing.
