broken packages

I'm doing the same - after years of using exclusively apt-get or aptitude -
but adept still doesn't fill me with confidence.  When it works, it works
well, but as you've found, when it fails it doesn't tell you anything.  The
other thing that just occurred to me this morning, is that it gives you
quite a bit of information about the packages it wants to update but skips
one important piece: no changelogs!
