amarok-xine is broken, and won't play flac.  This is a known issue, and will 
be fixed at the next release (hopefully) of amarok-xine.

In the meantime, use oggify/goggify to make ogg versions of your flac files.  
That should tide most people over till the problem is fixed.  That's what I 
did.
