need help installing firefox

Well, it is hard to tell what may have happened to your system.

But it already had Firefox installed.  So what you did us causing confusion.

I guess I would uninstall the Firefox you downloaded.

Then I would uninstall the Ubuntu package for Firefox and reinstall it.

sudo apt-get remove firefox
sudo apt-get install firefox
