how to disable media:/ feature?

I have issues with it as well. Various media players don't like the media 
path... 

Konqueror regularly objects when auto opening a DVD. with the message "An 
error occurred while loading media:/hdc:
The file or folder media:/hdc does not exist."

the drive itself exists in fstab as:
/dev/hdc        /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 ro,user,noauto  0       0

there is a mount point available of:
/media/cdrom0

so why the heck it can't mount it I don't know

When you have a folder opened via clicking on the desktop icon, I find you 
can't create a new folder in the device. But when I use Kdiskfree, I can use 
kdiskfree to access the device and that konqueror window can create folders 
in the device.
