mounting samba share on server pc

Try using ip addresses instead of names:

//127.0.0.1/common /mnt/samba/common smbfs 
credentials=/root/.smbpw,uid=dave,gid=dave,fmask=777,dmask=777 0 0

Just an idea...
My setup is:

//127.0.0.1/datos /home/jferrando/datos smbfs 
users,uid=1000,gid=1000,noauto,credentials=/etc/smbc.jordi 0 0
