Hi,

Can anyone tell my how to start the mysqld?

I tried this:

lionel at ubuntu:~$ sudo mysqld
Password:
060118 17:59:46 [Warning] Can't create test file 
/var/lib/mysql/ubuntu2.lower-test
mysqld: Can't change dir to '/var/lib/mysql/' (Errcode: 2)
060118 17:59:46 [ERROR] Aborting
