Thanks, of couse I STFW before I asked. A few of them (.bashrc for
example) I could have taken off the list, but I figured that I'd get
more info if I asked about them as well. There were of course others
(.kde, .mozilla, etc) that I did not post, as they were obvious enough
that I didn't need to.

I've discovered that I prefer to use cp to backup, as I often need one
complete file as it was at xxx date in time. So long as it all fits on
one disc, I prefer not even to tar it so that I can access it more
readiliy.
