Kubuntu, first impressions.

My /etc/passwd shows this as the first line:

root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash

And my /etc/shadow has this:

root:$1$kjA38ZAR$UAtExMHffbFqsMNxrTtIb.:13482:0:99999:7:::

And I haven't made any changes to either file, other than adding two regular
users, using the 'Users and Groups' dialog from the System menu. In what
way has root been done away with on your system?
