Screen blanks after 60 seconds

If I don't press a key or move the mouse the screen blanks after a
minute, this is annoying when watching a movie or reading a website or
man page...

The screen saver isn't set to start automatically and powers saving is
set to 30 mins.
The monitor doesn't go in to standby, it just blanks.

Any ideas?
