kde + gnome = menu clutter

I few weeks ago I installed kubuntu-desktop on top of my Dapper Ubuntu
installation to try KDE out.

So far, I like kde much better than gnome for a number of reasons: Fonts
are more readable on my laptop screen, my one Windows application that
I run in crossover office works much better and most of all and Kontact
is a better solution for me than Evolution (not in the least because
gpilot couldn't sync my sony clie and kpilot did it out-of-the-box).

In any event, since right now I have both gnome and kde installed my
application menu is cluttered in both environments with menu entries for
 the other environment's applications.

Since I plan to stick to kde, how do I get rid of all the gnome stuff? I
want to get what I would have if I had just installed kubuntu in the
first place (or as close as I can get). Should I just uninstall
ubuntu-dekstop? (Of course, if I change my mind later, I can always
reinstall ubuntu-desktop, correct?)

Thanks for the help,
