I suggest going to the Kubuntu Forums -- http://www.kubuntuforums.net --
and checking things out there.

The make and model of your video card should be contained in your
documentation somewhere.  My laptop had an ATI Radeon 9000 card, and the
native drivers that shipped with Kubuntu were not compatible with it; I
ended up installing a separate driver altogether through Adept.

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I've about reached the end of my technical
competence on this issue.
