KDE and Kate bookmarks

KDE has it's own bookmarks, and they seem to be of the same type as
the bookmarks used by the text editor Kate, which is a part of KDE.
However, when I add bookmarks to one or the other, they do not appear
in the other- they are seperate. What can I configure so that Kate
will use KDE's bookmarks?

If it is not so simple, then I would not mind manually coping the KDE
bookmarks file over the Kate bookmarks file. I imagine that they are
of the same type, as the interface is exactly the same. In any case,
I'd like to know where they are so that I could easily back them up.
