Editing file name extensions in Konqueror

For me it seems to be dependent on how Konqueror is "viewing" the file.  In 
Tree View, Info List View, Detailed List View and Text View  typing  F2 
highlights the filename but not the extension.  In most of the other views it 
highlights the whole file name including extension.

Sort of weird.
