I think I briefly met you on irc today, told you about using hoary in 
server mode then upgrading (all amd64). Why not give dapper a try? I've 
installed from Flight 3 to flight 6 (each time from iso's) without any 
problems on my amd64 system. Give it a try -- yeah another download and 
another cd to burn, but you won't regret it.
