Live CD - IP forwarding

When I try to turn on IP forwarding in Kubuntu Live CD using the command
sudo echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
I get an error message, maybe because the file is in the CD. I would like to use the Live CD to
establish the ADSL connection (what I already do) and forward the packets, what I can't do due the
error message received. It would be great if the Live CD also had an DHCP serving 192.168.0.x
addresses. What shall I do do have that?
