keyboard kraziness with xkb after upgrade

I had added a custom keyboard config to make my Logitech elite 
multimedia buttons accessable before the upgrade to breezy. I had some 
burps regarding xkb in the upgrade which got straightened out....

However, now I have no VT's once X is started, ie, alt+cnt+F# no longer 
works to get the system shells. If I shutdown X, they are there.

Plus when I start gnome I get an xkb related error.For a while it 
wouldnt boot at all.

So the prob is somewhere in xkb i figure. Or maybe in my xorg.conf. How 
to fix, and what to use for a couple year old Logitech Elite non Wireless?
