KOffice Page Numbers

I've been trying to get page numbers to work in KOffice 1.4.2.

So far all I've found is: Insert -> Variable -> Page -> Page Number.
However this puts 1 on the front page when my teacher wants us to put '1' on 
the 3rd page (introduction).

Tried adding them manually with a footer but doing so adds the number to all 
pages.

Anyone know how I can get round this?
